Tourism is the leading economic sector in Saint Lucia, contributing an estimated 13.8% of GDP and direct employment for approximately 20,000 employees.

Total visitor arrivals for 2014 was mixed; stay over visitors increased by 6.1% to 338,158; cruise visitors increasing by 8% to 641,452 respectively. There was also an increase in yachting visitors from 2013 to 2014, accounting for a 19% increase to 47,196, the highest since 2012.

Saint Lucia’s accommodation sector has performed relatively strong. The island’s tourism plant encompasses a mix of self-contained villas, luxury condominiums and over 4,000 rooms available in more than 100 properties.
